Breaking the Curse of Generational Poverty

I have  a message that I ministered called “Being a Curse Breaker”  If you missed that message I would encourage you to go online and watch it on our youtube channel by searching that title.  I really believe there is more to breaking a generational curse than just praying a prayer of deliverance; it also takes a change in behavior. In the last couple of years scientific research has shown that diet and lifestyle (in other words, more than just genetics) play a role in generational disease. You eat what your parents ate and they eat what their parents ate and the curse rolls on.

Poverty works the same way. In the classic book “What Every Church member Should Know About Poverty”,(*see info below) the authors state that research in generational poverty teaches us that those bound in poverty have a common misunderstanding; failure to understand proper life planning and the discipline that requires. It goes like this:

If I cannot plan, I cannot predict.
If I cannot predict, I cannot identify cause and effect.
If I cannot identify cause and effect, I cannot forecast consequences.
If I cannot identify cause and effect, I cannot control impulsivity.
If I cannot control impulsivity, I will be prone to reckless and even criminal behavior.

A victim mentality will freeze you into the current state you are in. If you take the attitude “I can’t do anything about my current situation in life”, then you are done. I always ask myself why or what? What can I do to improve what I am experiencing? Where does the blame really lie for my current circumstance that I find myself in?

Years ago I had a leader cause a lot of problems and I was venting to my good friend Kevin Leal about it. He responded by telling me I needed to take the responsibility for what happened and move on. “Me?” said. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

“You empowered him didn’t you?” Kevin answered.

Wow, that was some tough love, but it really helped me come out of the victim mode and move forward with empowering others.

There are a lot of “victim leaders” who have been burned and spend the rest of their lives afraid to trust again. We have to learn to identify cause and effect and make the changes necessary to move forward from failed places and efforts in our lives. John Maxwell has a book I liked called “Failing forward” it addresses some of the same issues. Breaking generational poverty is basically identifying the cause of the poverty. The victim mentality is a curse on our culture at this time in history, and every day certain achievers are breaking free from it. It IS possible!

Thirty years ago, I brought my two brother-in-laws to America from South Korea. They were penniless when they came, and had only a High School education. To this day, they don’t speak much English. They both lived in a one-bedroom apartment with their Mother in Los Angeles and worked in a convenience store. Within three years, they saved $20,000. And with $10,000, each they began a small business. Within three more years one was worth close to a million and the other was not far behind. They didn’t come as victims they worked, they saved and broke the curse of generational poverty from their generations! Now their children are prospering and becoming the next generation of successful Americans!

I refuse to be a victim! How about you?

This week we have again witnessed the fact that we are living in unprecedented times! With POTUS’ third appointment of a SCOTUS I was reminded of a Biblical account:

Luke 1:39-45

39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,

40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

As I watched the swearing in of Justice Barrett Monday night, I thought “millions of babies just leaped in their mothers’ wombs” !  Why? Because the SCOTUS now has a majority of Justices who could very well begin the process of dismantling the evil empire of planned parenthood and abortion on demand in our nation! No one knows for sure yet but our POTUS has kept his word, and our nation has gained back some moral high ground!

There was an announcement on the news Tuesday morning, that the most searched for things on the internet this week were, “can I change my vote” and the name “Hunter Biden”. The hidden things are being revealed and we all pray it’s not too late!

With Sudan joining the Nations who want to normalize relations with Israel this week, we move yet closer to the prophecy of the peace of the middle east that will precede the rise and rule of the Antichrist!

Ezek 38:8-17

8 After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.

9 You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”

10 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan:

11 You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’ — 

12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.

13 Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?'”‘

14 “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD:”On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it? 

15 Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army.

16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”

17 Thus says the Lord GOD: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them?

Sheba and Dedan make up modern day UAE and for the last 38 years I have believed and taught that when a peace agreement is finally reached in the middle east, and Israel has secure borders, the end will begin.

Daniel 9:27 tells us there will be a 7 year covenant of peace and then in the middle all hell will break loose.

We are days away from this historic election and the world is standing and  watching to see if America will immerge conservative or liberal; we see it as good or evil.

China and Russia have formed alliances with Syria and Iran and the lines are forming for this prophesied invasion. I have waited 38 years and watched the last 6 Presidents fail at the attempt Trump has succeeded in doing! The Kings of the East are fully awake and again we see the fulfillment of so much. Any way you look at it we are living in unprecedented times and seeing things no other generation has seen.

I hear the hoofbeats of the horses of the apocalypse and hear the warnings of the Lord in my heart!

Rev 22:10-17

10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.

11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still ; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still ; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still ; he who is holy, let him be holy still .”

12 Jesus Testifies to the Churches “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” 

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

I stand amazed as I am sure you do as I look at the present day culture of America and the world. I am daily hearing the words of the Prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah  5:20-24

20 Woe to those who call evil good , and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! 

22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,

23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man! 

24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.  NKJV

For a lifetime I have watched the church fall deeper and deeper into a spiritual slumber that many will not awaken from. Thousands of churches remain dark as fear driven leaders hold their flocks captive to the narrative of the crazed politicians and media!

The so called “grace message leaders have now manifested what they really are; fearful and faithless. They went from fear of man and fear of not being politically correct to fear of sickness and death!

Half the people who call themselves Christian won’t even vote or vote for the Democratic party whose entire platform is anti-Christ. I keep seeing a picture of the late Justice Ginsburg standing before the judgment seat of Christ, with millions of spirits of aborted children bearing witness against her.

I would imagine a woman’s right to choose has a different outcome in the high court of Heaven! Who would have imagined it would take a “Donald Trump” to have ten times the boldness against evil than the average American Pastor?

Who would have imagined that it would take Donald Trump to appoint three conservative Supreme Court Justices and fill 300 Federal judgeships in
the Federal Government with conservatives.  Jesus said it best “a tree is known by its fruit”, not its narrative or talking points!

I remember nearly four years ago now when Trump first took office, my Pastor called me and told me he had just gotten off the phone with one of the Pastors who had been summoned to the oval office to meet and pray for the President. He told me that the POTUS said this to them. “Gentlemen make no mistake about this, this is not a fight between political parties, this is a fight between good and evil!”

According to a recent poll on Fox News last night 54% of Americans still believe abortion on demand should be outlawed except in extreme circumstances. So where are they on election day? I know where I will be and I hope you will be, at the polls “making America accountable before God again!”

Hebrews 10:32-11:1

32 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; 

34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. 

35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.

36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

37 “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. 

38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”  

39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. NKJV

We vote in heaven with our prayers, and then vote on earth with our authority at the polls.  We must elect men and women who will uphold biblical standards, and we must see this through in prayer.
