Pastor’s Blog 2.7.18

This week, we continue to look into the subject of
“Breaking the Generational Curse of Poverty”.

Yesterday, the Fox News website featured an article called the “Curse of the Lottery Winners”. It began by saying that a woman who had just won a huge lottery was refusing to claim it unless she could remain anonymous. She was afraid the “lottery curse” would come on her. Then the article went on to disclose the pain, misery and death, that many of the previous lottery winners have experienced. The author said of the thousands of lottery winners researched, only a few actually did not regret winning.

Solomon uses the term “vanity” about 40 times in the book of Ecclesiastes to describe the ability for the material to satisfy the spiritual hunger in mankind. Vanity basically means “the failure of something to satisfy.” But, Solomon also recognized the true blessing of the person who has discovered their portion and lives in the contentment of it.

Eccl 5:18-20 “Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage. 19 As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth , and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor — this is the gift of God. 20 For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.” NKJV

Pastor Brian Adams always says, “Wherever you go there you are”. The truth of that statement is that your character, not your location or your current abundance or lack, determines your satisfaction. When I finished High School I quickly recognized I was going nowhere. I had a very strong loyalty to my friends, and I remember thinking I would never change as long as I was with this group in this small town. I joined the Army thinking that the change of location would help me overcome the things that were hijacking my success. A few months later, I found myself with the same group of friends, just with different names.

Unwittingly, I had become a victim of pleasing people. I moved from place to place, state to state, and even lived in another country on the opposite side of the world for 15 months, but “everywhere I went, there I was.” Finally, I was delivered; not from my friends, or my state or my city, or even location; I was delivered from me! Through Christ I was born again! I was a new creation with a new character; no longer bound by the old self and the old failures.

Instead of the same old thing happening to me just in a different place, I started a new life that was totally different. I know a lot of people who believe in Jesus, but have not become a new creation in Him. A poverty spirit is truly broken in a new birth into royalty! I am no longer identified by what I have or who I am with, I am identified by who I am. I am a son of God and every curse that was against me has been destroyed by the power of the gift of righteousness that was given to me!

Most people who are generationally wealthy live in a mindset that sets them apart from the status quo. They consider themselves different than others. For example, people that live in the wealthier side of society will many times become members of a local Country Club. I have never been a member of such a club, but I have been invited many times to attend with members. I watch as there is an expectation with most members to be treated differently, with greater respect because of their money. For example, the servers don’t act like a server who works at a normal restaurant such as Outback or Ruby Tuesdays. They are trained to react, serve and respond differently, with more protocol, and to treat their customers with greater respect and favor because the members of the country club EXPECT it.

The point is, you present yourself out of a mindset of who you believe you are. Worldly wealth can produce a false identity that really can’t satisfy what we really long for, however, the new birth can! It has in me and I believe it is the ultimate cure or deliverance from the curse of poverty! My Pastor said something to me 30 years ago that I will never forget: “The poor have poor ways”. And that is true. Change the root and you change the fruit. Change the identity and you change behavior. The Lord has made us Kings and Priests to our God and we should be living in the character of that new identity!

Until next week,
Be blessed!

The Prophetic from Sunday 2.2.18

On Sunday morning the word of the Lord came through a tongue and interpretation and a prophetic exhortation. We are thankful that we serve a God that still speaks to His children today!

My children, did you hear what I said? My children, MY children, you’re crying out for the fire, you’re crying out for My process, that’s why I call you MY children, MY CHILDREN, I discipline those that I love. And you’re crying out for My process. I am bringing a sword, and I am bringing fire. Don’t be surprised what I cut away….don’t be surprised what I burn away, because I am coming to destroy your false kingdom. I am coming to destroy your false assumptions of Me and how I work. I’m coming to bring unity. I’m coming to bring My will. So, in your hearts when you cry out, you pray what I want prayed, you desire what I want brought forth. Your heart is in alignment with Me. I am coming to cut away that which is not Me. No more will you pray in vain. No more will you pray in vanity. No more will you pray out of a false understanding. I’m coming to bring fire. Understand it’s my love that is separating you from the world. It’s in that place that I dwell, it’s in that place that I bring forth that anointing. It’s in that place I bring forth a movement. I am coming to set the captives free. I am coming to bring life to this valley. I am well pleased at your prayer, I am well pleased that you are asking for the process. So don’t be overwhelmed and don’t feel fretful or fearful when I come to expose in you what doesn’t agree with Me. Because in agreement is where I dwell. (Tongue and interpretation through Charlie Rowan)

Through worship, I just kept hearing: I am a relentless God. I am a relentless God. And I am coming to tear down those walls and I will pursue your heart. I will penetrate your heart. I WILL church, penetrate your heart. And there will be an overwhelming love, because I am a relentless God. I am a relentless God. I am a relentless God. And My overwhelming love will penetrate you and you will pour it out into this region. And there is nothing that will take this away because I am relentless God. (Exhortation through Christy Morgan)

Scripture References:
1 Corinthians 14:6-7, 13-14, 39-40
Now, brothers,[a] if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? 7 If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?

13 Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.

39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But all things should be done decently and in order.

During a time in recent prayer, the Lord began to speak to Nichole and said “write this down”. She wrote it down as He gave it and then shared it with Pastor Dave. He, in turn, had her share this word with us Wednesday night, 1.17.18, after his sermon where He spoke about not judging others, being free from legalism and honoring God’s will and plans for our lives. Here is a word in season for our church:

When the shaking began many of you thought it was an attack from the enemy but this was My doing. I had to shake off the shell, the molding, the scaffolding, for I have been designing something new. There were those who were necessary for the beginning stages, who were necessary for the design, but they were not chosen for the movement. For what I have been building is for movement, and these were not equipped for moving they were only equipped to shape and mold. The shaking was to allow the life of what I have purposed, to breathe in Me and exhale Me. For inside the mold, a change took place; a metamorphosis. In this metamorphosis, you are going from what was to what is now – and what is to come.

You’ve only just began to scratch the surface of what I have done and what I am doing. Don’t fear the new thing or the unknown. The unknown to you is known to Me for I am eternity; I am in the past, present, and future. Your future is unknown to you but I am there and the steps of the righteous are ordered. Trust Me. Although everything feels different, it is time to to step out and MOVE! I have chosen you for this new movement – it’s not supposed to feel familiar! You are to be apart of the pioneers that will go first. Yes, it may feel like you are walking on water just keep your eyes focused on ME.

There are those who still love the molding- they cling to the molding. They will either have to let go of the molding or they will be shook off! You have grown beyond the molding. You no longer fit in the molding. You went from one thing, to a new thing with new purpose! No longer limited to what was and who you were before. So I say LET GO of the old LET GO of what was LET GO of what was familiar!! FAITH walk in FAITH not by sight! I will not pour new wine in an old wine skin! You want more…. you cry out for more? Do you not realize the depths of Me? The fullness of who I am are like the many waves that crash upon the shore that bring forth something new with each crashing wave. Again, I say keep your focus on Me, lock eyes with Me, we have MORE to do.
